Hi Everyone!
I just wanted to let everyone know that Serenity will be showing at the Indianapolis International Film Festival on April 28th and 29th as part of their Science Fiction Section. That's right, not just one, but two showings! Lots of details here: http://indyscifi.blogspot.com
In addition to Serenity (as if that wasn't enough) we are also showing Done the Impossible and the Buffy Sing-a-Long. I think this is what happens when Joss-obsessed fan gets put in charge of something. Lots of other scifi stuff to be announced later, but clearly these are the most important!
Tickets go on sale April 12th, announcement with specific times for showings will be this coming Wed. 3/28.
I really hope that both the Indy Browncoats and Bloomington Browncoats will be able to attend! I also hope that I won't be the only one in my Jayne hat!
Im looking for some people to lead singing before Serenity (Firefly Theme and Jayne), keeping in the grand tradition of the pre-screenings. Also, for any Buffy/Angel fans Im looking for somebody interested in debating about who would win in a fight - cavemen or astronauts? And if you would just like to be involved somehow, please let me know. Contact Ellen at indyscififilms@gmail.com.
Keep Flyin' and Stay Shiny! |

| Great news! I can certainly make sure that an email goes out to all our members. It looks like the IndySciFi website is down right now, but you can also check out http://indyfilmfest.org/ the film festival website for upcoming info on the entire festivus. |

Noticed that Jerry already put up links to your site and this announcement on his website blog: http://www.jerrygordon.net/category/blog/
I went ahead and posted the news on Whedonesque.
Let's spread the word! |

| I just made this a "sticky" topic, meaning it will sit at the top of the Local Shindig thread. I also took the liberty of fixing to original url to IndySciFi in the original post. |

| The wife and I will be there for the Buffy Singalongs - hopefully we can see Serenity too!! If anyone else is going, maybe we could meet up for a meal or something. If enough of us are going, maybe we could make it an "unofficial" shindig!! |

Yes... getting as many Indiana BCs there as possible! Now THAT's what I call a Party! |

If anybody would like to organize an official Shindig for Browncoats just let me know and we can figure out how to incorporate it into the festival somehow. Even if its just at a nearby restaurant its always great to be somewhere that I wont get strange looks for wearing my Jayne hat. |

I would really like to meet up with the Indy Browncoats somewhere (at a restaurant, like trueprophecygirl suggested, would be fine). Bloomington is crazy far away(-ish), especially since I spend most of my time in Muncie nowadays, but a gathering in Indy is easy for me to get to.
I'm not sure I'd go to the film festival, depends on ticket price, etc., but I'd still like to meet up with people. |

That'd be great. Tix for the film festival are $10 a movie. Parties and panels are extra I think. You can get discounted bundles of tix on the indy file festival site, 10 tix for $75. That's probably what the wife and I are going to do if there are more movies than Serenity and the two Buffy singalongs.
When I emailed my wife and told her Serenity was at the film festival she replied to me with:
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeee!
We'll be in Indy probably just Friday and Saturday - unless they schedule some really good stuff on Sunday too. There isn't a set schedule for the film festival yet. (It's hard to get a babysitter for three kids for three days). |

The Saturday screening of Serenity, with DTI directly afterward, works best for me, since the Sunday showings of both are waaaay too late, and I work the next morning. I hope that plenty of IBCs show up either day. I'd go on BOTH days if I could!
Permaybehaps some BCs would like to meet up somewhere after the DTI screening... That would be after 10pm, but there's bound to be somewhere you Indy natives could recommend for an informal Fan get-together?? Please send me a PM if you'd be interested in meeting Saturday. Thanx, and we'll see you at the Show!! |

Rubi and I are going up for Friday and Saturday.
We're doing the buffy singalong Friday night, then Saturday we're doing Serenity, probably DTI, and the Buffy Singalong again and leaving town after that.
We'd be up for a meetup - the more the merrier. |

| Saturday would be the day for me. Maybe a get together before would be a better idea. Some people might want to stay late for the Buffy event after DTI. Do we know the actual location of the Indy showings? |

Saturday afternoon is good for us, as we have no plans until Serenity at 5:45, although I'm sure my wife will want to hit some scrapbooking stores. We are planning on doing the Buffy after DTI.
I believe Serenity, DTI, and Buffy are all at "Key Cinemas", which, as I understand it, is on the south side of Indy.
Can anyone from the Indy area recommend a really cheap but not sleazy motel?
I made a brief post about the showings at Bluegrass Browncoats, The Signal, and FireflyTalk forums. |

Well, as I said before, I'm going to the 5:45 showing of the BDM on Saturday, followed by the DTI showing at 8. If anyone knows of a nearby place where we could all meet beforehand, a Starbucks or whatever, please say the word.
I've been corresponding with Ellen, the lady coordinating the Screenings, and it looks like I'll be "leading" the Hero of Canton and Theme Song sing-alongs.... God help us all! |

Most excellent!! Can't wait! Hopefully there will be tons of Browncoats to singalong!
I'm not familiar with that part of town, so I can't say what's nearby. |

Me neither... haven't the faintest idea what's there. How about this:
Let's have a show of "hands" for who would meet at the Theater early, say, 3:30, to Rally together and go somewhere for coffee and conversation? |

Unfortunately, it looks like I can't go on Saturday. I had to schedule training for this summer's internship on the 28th. (Bats again! But this time I'll be at Camp Atterbury, Big Oaks, and Muscatatuck the whole summer. On the 28th I'm learning how to do telemetry.)
I hope you all have fun. |

I hope you have fun, V V C, but that's sad news for the rest of us. The Summer hasn't even started yet (did you see the snow today?!?) and you're already doing stuff like that? What's the hurry? lol
I certainly hope you have fun, like I said, and permaybehaps we'll still get a chance to meet up some other day. |

Congrats on the summer internship. I know it will keep you away for most of the summer, but I hope you have fun!

I'll be there. I've been to Key for movies before, but don't know of a lot of places in the area. I'll check into it and see if I can come up with something. |

Shiny! We've got time yet; Thanks for checking out the locale. Maybe when can meet someplace directly, instead of meeting at the Theater. This is gonna be fun, y'all! |
